This guide describes how to setup a Smart Dash system with the Link G4+ Series of ECU's
Prerequisites
- Smart Dash DAH-280 connected to power and CAN1 BUS connected Link G4+ ECU
- PC with the PCLink+ control software obatined from https://www.linkecu.com/software-support/pc-link-downloads/
- Link G4+ CAN Bus Stream files : http://www.situne.no/SmartDash/ECUTemplates/LinkG4Plus.zip
Instructions
Since Link does not broadcast their own protocol, Situne provide Link Can Stream files that makes the ECU conform to one of the protocols supported by Smart Dash. This guide will help you through the configuration of the Link G4+ ECU.
So lets get started !
1. Open PCLink+ software
2. Go Online (Upper right corner should show green color)
3. Select Menu "ECU Controls"
5. Select the correct CAN Module in "CAN Configuration" section og "Mode" tab.
- Atom II has one CAN-bus called CAN2
- Monsoon has one CAN-bus called CAN2
- Storm has one CAN-bus called CAN2
- Kurofune has one CAN-bus called CAN2
- Storm has one CAN-bus called CAN2
- Extreme has two CAN-bus called CAN1 & CAN2
- Fury has two CAN-buses called CAN1 & CAN2
- Thunder has two CAN-buses called CAN1 & CAN2
- Force GDI has two CAN-buses called CAN1 & CAN2
On ECUs containing two CAN-buses, one can connect Smart Dash CAN1 to any of the Links CAN-Buses.
6. Select "Mode" drop down and select "User Defined"
7. Select "Bit Rate" drop down and select "1 Mbit/s"
The bus is now configured to send User defined data at a speed of 1Mbit/s (1000kbit/s).
Next we need to configure what data to send.
8. In the "Data" section of the "Mode" tab select "Channel 1" from the left selection box
9. In the "Mode" drop down of the "Data" section select "Transmit User Stream 1"
10. In the "Transmit Rate" drop down select "50Hz"
11. In the "CAN ID" section select "Normal" as "Format"
12. Enter "784" in the "ID" field of the "CAN ID" section
Stream one is now configured, lets continue on two.
13. In the "Data" section of the "Mode" tabl select "Channel 2" from the left selection box
14. In the "Mode" drop down of the "Data" section select "Transmit User Stream 2"
15. In the "Transmit Rate" drop down select "50Hz"
16. In the "CAN ID" section select "Normal" as "Format"
17. Enter "785" in the "ID" field of the "CAN ID" section
Stream two is now configured, lets continue on three
18. In the "Data" section of the "Mode" tab select "Channel 3" from the left selection box
19. In the "Mode" drop down of the "Data" section select "Transmit User Stream 3"
20. In the "Transmit Rate" drop down select "50Hz"
21. In the "CAN ID" section select "Normal" as "Format"
22. Enter "786" in the "ID" field of the "CAN ID" section
Stream three is now configured, only one left
18. In the "Data" section of the "Mode" tab select "Channel 4" from the left selection box
19. In the "Mode" drop down of the "Data" section select "Transmit User Stream 4"
20. In the "Transmit Rate" drop down select "50Hz"
21. In the "CAN ID" section select "Normal" as "Format"
22. Enter "787" in the "ID" field of the "CAN ID" section
Stream setup is now complete, last step is to load the actual CAN streams.
23. Click the "Streams" tab on top of the CAN Setup window.
24. On the left side tree select the "Stream 1" item
25. Click the "Load Stream" button in the Stream section
26. This opens a open file dialog, select the Stream_1.lcs from the zip file downloaded above
26a. Sometimes an box is displayed if the stream has some default values, click yes to proceed
27. On the left side tree select the "Stream 2" item
28. Click the "Load Stream" button in the Stream section
29. This opens a open file dialog, select the Stream_2.lcs from the zip file downloaded above
30. On the left side tree select the "Stream 3" item
31. Click the "Load Stream" button in the Stream section
32. This opens a open file dialog, select the Stream_3.lcs from the zip file downloaded above
33. On the left side tree select the "Stream 4" item
34. Click the "Load Stream" button in the Stream section
35. This opens a open file dialog, select the Stream_4.lcs from the zip file downloaded above
We are now fininshed with configuration, click "Apply" then "OK", the window closes.
36. Click "ECU Controls" menu, select "Store to ECU", to make this permanent in the ECU.
When setting up Smart Dash, select the "EFI / Situne Protocol" and speed 1000kbit, termination is set according to your cabling setup.
